ACCESS TO CAREER EDUCATION (ACE) SCHOLARSHIP
ACE Scholarships are awarded to students in need, who graduated from a San Luis Obispo County high school and are now enrolled at Cuesta College’s career education and trades programs. These scholarships help students to be able to purchase required materials, tools and supplies in order to complete course work.
Launched in 2024, ALSLOC awarded for the spring semester $200 scholarships to 17 students in need. This year, ALSLOC scholarships have increased to $250 for a semester, and are awarded to 25 students. Students in good standing are eligible for scholarship funds for both semesters, potentially receiving $500 for critical needs tha thelp students get over the finish line and into trade careers.

“It’s an honor to work with the Assistance League to make these opportunities possible for our students. Your commitment through this scholarship is truly making a difference-opening doors, inspiring confidence, and creating brighter futures for our students.”
Jessica Strano, Director of Philanthropy at Cuesta College
The total investment annually made in ACE Scholarships is $10,000. Read on for the Launch Announcement from December 2023.
Quotes from Student Thank You Notes:
“I am an architecture student. I am honored to be the recipient of your scholarship… Tears welled up in my eyes [when I learned that I was a recipient] as the weight of worry about how I would afford my next round of model-making supplies was lifted. Your generosity could not have come at a better time.”
“I just wanted to truly thank you for this donation to my education. As a 20 year old mechanic working full time and supporting myself, this scholarship is a huge help and will make a real difference in my ability to complete my welding degree at Cuesta College.”
“I am currently a full time student at Cuesta College, working hard toward complete courses in Plumbing, Welding and Multicultural Health. This scholarship came at a critical time in my life. Recently my car was repossessed, and I am currently facing homelessness. As a father of three children, I am determined to create a more secure future for my family. This scholarship is more than just financial aid, it’s a reminder that others believe in my journey.”
